Literature Text

By fireside I can rest
With a mug of my depression
As embers glimmer like what gold
Could not buy your affection
Melt like light upon my eyes
Watery with recollection
Of somewhere distant
In my glass' reflection
Hot air to touch my skin
In the sweetest reaction
Of a once shared moment
And seeming endless satisfaction

A chair to hold up my legs
No longer meant for supporting
A heavy head of worry
And a saddest kind of story
Hearts burn into their grey
With smoky loss escaping
Once something starts to break
Is it futile to keep hoping?
A glass inside my grip
And the crackle start to sing
To guide me where I cannot be
By passage of two golden rings

Quiet for the sprites have gone
Their child-likeness in their sleep
A day gone with the others pass
With all the memories it keep
The forest in the ash have flown
No longer able to see trees
Through nothing but the amber light
And haziness to stay my weep
A chill of lullaby we gave
Repeats in echoes of the breeze
That leave this room where once we were
Together in the time I need
