With the hail
Of a storm in the midst of the night
I was caught
In a paralyzing state of mind
What would cross
Through the doorstep to meet me
I so feared
Of the friends it could happily bring

So I shacked
And the covers rolled
So I shacked
And the room grew cold
Not the time
With the pearl in my eye could I see
The giant shadows coming closer on a mist sea

Banged the wood
As the splinters cut right through my veil
The deadbolt cracked
And I knew it was so soon to fail
Grabbed my cross
Said a prayer I could not recall
Words to save
From invisible foes at my wall

So I shacked
The windows grew dark
So I shacked
As their answering harked
Called my name
With expectant earth digging my grave
And I knew in that moment the life I would slave

Dropped a candle to the oil
Watched their faces start to roil
Twisted horror in my sight
Given form I stand to fight
All a message on their fangs
Spelled the noose for me to hang
Dangle on the edge of ends
But not tonight

So I shacked
With a rage burning bright
So I shacked
And they circled to bite
Have no chance
But prolong this torturous last bend
But at least when I leave I will bear with new friends

I love the rhythm of this, and the lurid images :)
